Silky Smooth and Spicy Hot Chocolate

Silky Smooth and Spicy Hot Chocolate

This is a gorgeously silky, smooth hot chocolate, that's not too sweet and also nutrient dense.

It marries deliciousness with health! If you don't want to use raw cacao powder, simply replace it with carob powder.

And if you don't have almond milk, use rice milk or coconut milk instead. (Serves 2 – 5 minutes preparation time)

Ingredients:

¼ cup cashew nuts

1½ cups almond, rice or coconut milk

½ tsp vanilla

1 tsp cinnamon

1 Tbsp raw cacao powder / carob powder

6 pitted dates

Optional – a pinch of nutmeg on top of the hot chocolate just before serving

Method:

Combine all the above ingredients in a powerful blender and blend on high until the mixture is warm. If you want to move the mixture into a small saucepan to heat further, then you can do so.

Otherwise, if your blender is powerful enough, you will be able to heat the mixture in the blender if you blend it for about 3 minutes. If you have a Vitamix blender then this is the way to do it.

Sprinkle a little cinnamon over the hot chocolate just before serving.
